Sikaflex®-221 is a high-quality, versatile single-component polyurethane adhesive/sealer that cures with exposure to atmospheric moisture. It is suitable for interior sealing and simple bonding applications. It adheres well to a wide range of substrates and is suitable for making permanently elastic sealants with high bonding power. Suitable substrates include materials such as metals, metal primers and paint systems (two-component systems), ceramic and plastic materials.

Description
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Surface preparation Surfaces should be clean, dry and free of grease, oil and dust. Surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is critical for lasting bonding.
APPLICATION
Sikaflex®-221 can be processed between 5 °C and 40 °C, but variations in reactivity and application properties must be considered. The optimum temperature for substrates and sealant is between 15 °C and 25 °C.
TROWELING AND FINISHING
Troweling and finishing should be done within the skin formation time of the sealant.
REMOVAL Sikaflex®-221S.
If not cured, it can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be washed immediately using hand cleaning wipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H, or a suitable industrial hand wash and water. Do not use solvents on the skin!
OVERPAINTING
Sikaflex®-221 can be painted optimally after skin formation. Painting could be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika® Aktivator100 or Sika® Aktivator-205 before the painting process. If the paint requires a baking process (> 80 °C), the best performance is obtained by allowing the sealant to cure completely earlier. All paints should be tested by performing preliminary tests under the same production conditions. The elasticity of paints is usually lower than that of sealants. This could lead to paint cracking in the joint area

Return Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We will also pay the return shipping costs if the return is the result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
