It comes in a clear to slightly yellowish primer that reacts with moisture and forms a thin layer that acts as a link between substrates and adhesives. Sika® Primer-290 DC has been specially formulated for treating wooden planks prior to caulking with Sikaflex®-290 DC or bonding with Sikaflex®-298. This primer is particularly useful in the marine industry for improving the adhesion and sealing of gaskets and adhesives on wooden surfaces. The available packaging is 250ml.

This high-performance adhesive meets the regulations established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is designed for direct glazing applications in the shipbuilding and refitting markets. Sikaflex®-296 is suitable for use with all types of glass-based windows used in the Marine industry, but before using it on materials prone to stress cracking, it is recommended to perform tests on original substrates and seek advice from the manufacturer. It should also be noted that this adhesive is only suitable for experienced professional users.
